SUBSCRIBER SPOTLIGHT
Jack Olchin, "As long as I'm still around, I'll always renew!"
Jack has been a New Group Subscriber for over 4 years now and. I thought it would be a great idea to ask Jack a couple of questions about why The New Group is so special to him.
TNG: What is it about theatre that you love?
J: Everything. In fact in WWII I was very fortunate. I was in England for 14 months and I saw everything that was done over there at Stratford on Avon. There was an American actress named Clara Luz. And I've been a theatre nut all my life. When I was thirteen years of age, my aunt took me to see "At Home Abroad" at the Winter Garden Theater. And another show called "Moon over Mulberry Street." And they both were great shows. But I've been a theatre attendee ever since then.
TNG: How long have you been a subscriber with us?
J: I want you to know that I turned 88 last August so I've given up most of my subscriptions, but not The New Group.
TNG: And why is that?
J: I like the performances. I like the plays, and it's theatre as I like it.
TNG: That's great to hear! What has been your favorite New Group show?
J: I'd have to really think back on that because I've seen all of them since then.
TNG: But all of them you've liked in some way?
J: I really have. You know, how much longer will I be around? But really and truly, I've enjoyed all of the work that you've done. I would still go to The New Group as long as I'm still around.
TNG: Who would you like to see come to The New Group in the future?
J: My favorite actor, because we used to go to Williamstown, is James Naughton. And I'd love to see him do a play again. He was always one of my favorite actors. And he's won a couple of Tony's too!
TNG: That would be fun! And are you excited about our upcoming season? It's shaping up to be a really powerful one!
J: Certainly! I'm looking forward to everything that The New Group does. That's why I've renewed The New Group. I love the work that you do and I love the casting. Every time I read the reviews, they may rave about something that I think is terrible, and I may rave about something that they think is terrible. But you got to pull up your own opinion!
TNG: Thanks so much for answering our questions!
J: Thanks! Looking forward to coming in! As long as I'm still around, I'll always renew!
