David is the writer and performer of ten solo shows, most recently his solo musical memoir We’re Only Alive for A Short Amount of Time, for which he wrote the book, lyrics and co-composed the music with Matthew Dean Marsh (2020 Obie Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award nomination, Lucille Lortel Award nomination). David has appeared in five productions directed by Scott Elliott, and seven plays with The New Group including A Likely Story and Betwixt, both of which he also wrote. Other theater credits include The Total Bent. His film credits include Light From Light, Private Life and The Slaughter Rule. Other writing credits include Harry Clarke (Lucille Lortel Award) and most recently Sandra at the Vineyard Theatre.
